Finally, she made it to the bottom of the ravine. She looked up—up, up, up, past the jagged walls of stone to the sky far above.

She was very far down. Far enough down for diamonds? Maybe. That was her goal.

Much of the floor of the ravine was covered in lava. This deep down, there was a lot of it! But water was also pouring down the sides of the ravine in places. Where it touched the lava, it created cobblestone or obsidian. There were some safe places to walk—if she was careful.

And Kayla was. She made her way along the bottom of the ravine, mining iron ore and other ores where she could. She ducked into a cave off the side, finding even more ore. Marking the way with torches and listening for monsters, she went a little farther.
